A UN Permanent Forum to eradicate racism against people of African descent
On the 10th of May 2019, civil society from North America, South America and Europe gathered in Geneva, Switzerland, at the Palais Des Nations in a one day consultation with Members States on the first UN Permanent Forum on People of African Descent.
Established in the United Nations General Assembly resolution A/RES/73/262, this Forum should be established this year, and be a resourceful and inclusive mechanism to end a situation that is no longer acceptable nor sustainable #africandescent #fightracism @EUNetworkPAD Anti-Racist Forum
ENPAD played a lead role in mobilising and developing a proposal to attend the one day consultation uniting civil society around the same objective and building up an international coalition to accelerate the International Decade of People of African Descent with The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights US Human Rights Network: having a mechanism for us with the mandate to end of structural racism as a legacy of enslavement and colonialism of Africans. We were also accompanied by our members from Belgium, Finland, Ireland and the UK. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT!! You can access to the proposal that more than 118 civil society organisations submitted under an international coalition.
